Department StatNet policy for Graduate Students:
After completing your degree you will be given three (3) months to clear out your StatNet account and cloud.stat.ubc.ca storage. You will then be allowed another three (3) months 'grace' period to finally move everything from your account. After that period, your account will be terminated without notice. If you need to extend your account for any reason, you will be required to have departmental personnel to sponsor, i.e. a faculty member.
Email forwarding: Messages sent to your former email address can be forwarded to another address. If you’ve set up your own forwarding, it will stop working once your account is archived. To maintain continuity, arrange forwarding with IT staff before your account is deactivated.
Email forwarding duration: Forwarding can continue for as long as possible for faculty, staff, and graduate students, provided the department is permitted to host its own email server.
Major email providers such as Google, Microsoft Outlook, and Yahoo are increasingly restricting or blocking email forwarding. As a result, users should avoid relying on department-issued email addresses and begin promoting a personal email address before leaving the department.
